How do I get to Sukamade Beach?

Sukamade is located in Meru Betiri National Park, about 5 hours from Banyuwangi city. We provide 4x4 jeep transportation as the road is rugged. Pickup from your hotel is included in the travel plan.

What should I bring for the trip?

We recommend bringing comfortable walking shoes, insect repellent, flashlight (red light preferred), camera without flash, light jacket, and personal toiletries. Food and water are provided.

Is the tour suitable for children?

Yes! The tour is family-friendly. Children will love releasing baby turtle hatchlings. However, the night patrol involves walking on the beach, which may be challenging for very young children. We recommend ages 5+.

Can I take photos of the turtles?

Yes, but with restrictions. Flash photography is strictly prohibited as it disorients the turtles. You can use your phone's night mode or a camera with high ISO. Our guides will advise when it's safe to photograph.

Is seeing turtles guaranteed?

Turtle sightings depend on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. However, during peak season (Dec-Feb), the probability is very high. Even without turtle sightings, you can still participate in hatchling releases from the conservation center.

What if the weather is bad?

During rainy season, rivers may flood and roads become impassable. We monitor conditions daily and will inform you in advance. Trip rescheduling is possible without additional cost if conditions are unsafe.

Is it safe for elderly visitors?

The journey involves bumpy jeep roads and walking on sandy beaches at night. We recommend this for visitors in good physical condition. For elderly visitors or those with mobility issues, please consult with us first so we can adjust the itinerary.

Park Entry Fees

In addition to program costs, all visitors must pay the Meru Betiri National Park entry fee: IDR 10,000 for domestic visitors and IDR 50,000 for international visitors. This fee goes directly toward conservation and ranger patrol funding.

What's Included

All main tour packages include: hotel pickup in Banyuwangi, 4WD transport, English-speaking guide, meals at the ranger station, basic guesthouse accommodation, park entry fees, and all program activities as described. The only extras you need to budget for are personal expenses, tips for rangers, and any additional snacks or drinks.

Booking and Payment

Bookings can be made directly through WhatsApp. A deposit of 30% is required to confirm reservations during peak season (December-February). The balance is paid on arrival. We accept cash (IDR) at the ranger station — there are no card facilities at Sukamade.

Cancellation Policy

Free cancellation up to 48 hours before your scheduled trip. Within 48 hours, a 50% cancellation fee applies. In case of extreme weather or unsafe road conditions, we reschedule at no additional cost — your safety comes first.
